Data & updates
Listings come from two sources: free submissions via the submit form and tools we research and add editorially. Every entry links to its official site; an automated job re-checks availability and official-site facts on a rotating schedule, and entries that go offline or no longer match their listing are flagged for manual review and removed. Removal is never automatic. Verified timestamps on cards reflect the most recent link check; updated timestamps change only when a listing's content changes.
We run no third-party cookies or tracking scripts, and there are no affiliate links — rankings are purely editorial. Live directory figures — counts by category and pricing, plus availability-check coverage — are published on the stats page.
Our crawlers
Two low-volume fetchers identify themselves to listed sites and never pretend to be a browser: ToolDockFacts/1.0 reads a handful of official pages (pricing, docs, app-store links, web-app manifest) to fill the “facts from the official site” block; ToolDockShot/1.0 reads the first part of a site's homepage HTML (never more than 320 KiB, and it stops as soon as it sees the self-declared og:image) and then that one image, to show a site preview; results are cached on our edge for up to a week rather than re-fetched per visit. Both obey robots.txt (a disallow, or an unreachable robots file, means we skip the page) and point here via +https://tools.zalize.com/about. To opt out, disallow ToolDockFacts and/or ToolDockShot in robots.txt; to remove a preview or any fact, use the Suggest an edit link on your listing.

How do I get my tool listed?
Submit it via the free submission form. You need a live product with a real landing page, a clear one-sentence tagline and an honest pricing label. Approved tools usually go live within a few days.
Does a listing cost anything?
No. Listings are free and include a dofollow link to your official website plus an embeddable “Featured on” badge.
How are tools checked?
Every listing is held to the public listing criteria: a working official website (re-checked automatically), a plain-language description, a pricing label set at listing time and a category. Sites that go offline, or whose homepage no longer matches the listing (parked page, domain for sale, prohibited content), are flagged and sink in rankings; flagged listings are removed by manual review, never automatically.
What does “Facts on record: n of 5” mean?
“Facts on record: n of 5” counts how many of five verifiable facts our automated check found on a tool’s official site: the site answered our latest facts check (live ✓), the platforms it lists, a pricing page, documentation, and a public source repository. Fields we could not verify are simply not counted — nothing is inferred or filled in. It is a coverage count, not a rating: a tool with 2 of 5 is not worse than one with 5 of 5, we just hold fewer verified facts about it.
How are the rankings ordered?
Positions are neutral and deterministic: every approved listing gets a stable position that does not reward recency, company size, or payment. Listings whose official site failed our latest availability check drop to the bottom until the check clears. There is no paid placement. Positions come from a fixed hash of each listing's ID — a neutral rotation, not a quality score. Flagged sites (failed check / drift) sink to the bottom. Featured = listings whose official site published an og:image at our most recent successful fetch; editorial picks first, then the same neutral hash order. No paid placement.
